Nuñez: "We took three very important points"
The defender sets his sights on Europe after the Matchday 37 victory
The coach's post-match press conference
Valencia CF coach Carlos Corberán spoke to the media after the 3-4 victory against Real Sociedad.
Assessment of the game
It was a wild game, because it started with a goal from Real Sociedad practically from their first attack. We demonstrated our ability to overcome adversity, which is the highest quality one can have. We started off with that goal, then we turned things around. In the second half, we started well, without being overwhelmed, and then, from two moves that I would describe as ‘accidents,’ Real Sociedad went back in front. At that point, Cömert's sending off made everything even more difficult, but the team fought with enormous skill and heart. Drawing here with one less player is already a tough task; coming back to get the win is incredibly valuable. The players made a tremendous effort, and it was an absolute demonstration of faith.
Looking at Europe
We would have liked the fight for that objective to have started earlier, but it has come when it has. There's one game left, we're going to fight to the fullest, and we're going to face the next match in front our fans looking for the three points. Hopefully we can achieve something special.
The chances of qualifying for Europe
I don't know what the odds are, or what they were today when we were behind on the scoreboard, but through faith, heart, and dedication, we managed to win. Bringing joy to the fans after such a difficult year is very important to us. We're going to compete with great seriousness and high standards against FC Barcelona; hopefully, we'll get the three points to end the season in the best possible way.
